
In yet another impressive feat, the Philippine Normal University (PNU) soared to the 126th spot in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026, marking a significant leap from its 168th placement last year. PNU is among the 500 globally innovative universities recognized in this year’s ranking for exhibiting trailblazing programs and practices.
Beyond the overall ranking, PNU broke into the exclusive Top 100 in four separate specialized categories, demonstrating diverse strengths across multiple facets of innovation. The university’s highest placement was in the critical area of Crisis Management, where it secured a remarkable 38th place globally. This was closely followed by a 46th place ranking in Social Impact through Knowledge Transfer, acknowledging the institution’s effectiveness in taking research from academia and applying it for societal benefit. Furthermore, PNU achieved Rank 65 in University-based Entrepreneurial Projects, showcasing its successful fostering of practical entrepreneurial insights within its academic community, and Rank 82 in Empowerment-based Management, highlighting institutional strategies that nurtured leadership and agency among its staff and students.
The WURI rankings assess universities based on their innovative capacity and global impact across key pillars, recognizing creative contributions to solving real-world challenges.
