As part of its commitment to uphold ethical standards in academic research, the Philippine Normal University – Research Ethics Board (PNU-REB) has officially been granted an extension of its Level 1 Accreditation by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) until May 7, 2027.
This extension underscores the PNU-REB’s operational efficiency and adherence to national ethical standards in serving both PNU and external researchers. Furthermore, this accomplishment cements the university’s position among an elite group of just 30 higher education institutions in the country that have achieved national accreditation from the PHREB.
This milestone was made possible through the leadership and dedication of the current PNU-REB officers and members, spearheaded by Chairperson Dr. Rene C. Belecina and Vice-Chairperson Dr. Gilbert S. Arrieta. The executive team also includes Member-Secretary Dr. Edna Luz R. Abulon and support staff Ms. Lorephil P. Carloman. Serving as regular members are Prof. Benilda R. Butron, Dr. Zhanina U. Custodio, Dr. Armina B. Mangaoil, Dr. Christ John M. Pastor, and Mr. John Paul C. Sapino, with Dr. Joseph G. Balaoing of Adamson University acting as a non-affiliated regular member.
Administratively supported by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Quality Assurance, the board remains steadfast in promoting responsible research conduct across the academic community.
