
On July 1, 2026, the Philippine Normal University (PNU), as host institution and Permanent Secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network (AsTEN), successfully hosted the 21st Meeting of Presidents in Cebu City, Philippines,
The meeting gathered presidents, rectors, and institutional leaders from AsTEN member institutions across Southeast Asia to discuss strategic initiatives and collaborative programs aimed at advancing teacher education in the region. Key agenda items included developments in the AsTEN Journal of Teacher Education (AsTEN JTE), updates from the AsTEN Teacher Education Quality Assurance Agency (ATQA), academic mobility initiatives, and the implementation of AsTEN’s Strategic Directions.
Among the notable outcomes of the meeting were the approval of four new member institutions: Hanoi National University of Education, Cebu Normal University, Leyte Normal University, and West Visayas State University, which further strengthened the Network’s commitment to regional collaboration and educational excellence. The Board also approved the designation of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bukhori Muslim, as the new Editor-in-Chief for the AsTEN Journal of Teacher Education and discussed future initiatives that will support quality assurance, research collaboration, and academic exchange among member institutions.
Through the successful hosting of the 21st MoP, PNU reaffirmed its commitment to fostering international partnerships, promoting knowledge exchange, and supporting initiatives that contribute to the advancement of ASEAN teacher education.
