
The Philippine Normal University (PNU) community gathered to celebrate the exemplary contributions of its personnel during the Natatanging PIPOL 2025 recognition ceremony on December 12, 2025. The program underscored the university’s commitment to acknowledging excellence, dedicated service, and passion across its academic and administrative workforce.
The ceremony was opened by Dr. Lordinio A. Vergara, Vice President for Finance and Administration, who delivered an inspiring message acknowledging the invaluable contributions of the PNU workforce. He commended the awardees for their steadfast loyalty and exceptional service and encouraged them to continue uplifting the university through their expertise and dedication.
University President Dr. Bert J. Tuga led the recognition of the various groups of awardees, beginning with the Retirees. Four Faculty Awardees and seven administrative staff members were honored for their significant dedication and contribution throughout their tenure. Dr. Shirley N. Cerbo and Ms. Dolce G. Joguilon delivered the response on behalf of the Faculty and Admin Staff awardees, respectively. The tribute for the retirees concluded with a heartwarming serenade by the PNU Chorale.
The program continued with the recognition of recipients for Research Publication Incentives, where nine groups of researchers were acknowledged for their various studies successfully published in academic platforms, highlighting PNU’s commitment to scholarly output.
Following this, the Loyalty Awardees were honored, recognizing personnel who have rendered 10, 15, 20, 30, 35, 40, and 41 years or more of dedicated service to the University. Their unwavering commitment continues to inspire, especially the younger members of the PNU community. In addition to the cash incentives received during their actual service anniversaries, the awardees were given tokens of appreciation: smart watches for 10-Year awardees; classic wristwatches for 15-Year awardees; an 18k gold ring bearing the PNU logo for 20-Year awardees; an 18k gold bracelet for 30-Year awardees; an 18k gold necklace with an Inang Pamantasan pendant for 35-Year awardees; an 18k gold necklace with a PNU logo pendant for 40-Year awardees; and an 18k gold ring and an 18k gold necklace for those with 41 years of service and beyond. The Loyalty Awards celebrate years of dedication, academic excellence, and exemplary work performance that have significantly contributed to the University’s sustained growth and success.
The highlight of the evening was the recognition of the 2025 PNU Outstanding Teacher and Outstanding Employee. Finalists from both searches were first acknowledged and awarded consolation prizes. Finalists in the Search for Outstanding Faculty received a certificate of recognition and a cash incentive of Php 30,000, while the lone finalist in the Search for Outstanding Employee was given a certificate of recognition and a cash incentive of Php 5,000.
The awardees were then formally proclaimed. Dr. Crist John M. Pastor of the College of Advanced Studies was named Outstanding Faculty, receiving a plaque of recognition, a medal, and a cash prize of Php 50,000. Ms. Aquila D. Vendiola was conferred the Outstanding Employee award and received a plaque of recognition, a medal, and Php 35,000. Dr. Pastor and Ms. Vendiola each delivered their messages of gratitude, marking the conclusion of the formal program.
The Natatanging PIPOL 2025 ceremony stood as a powerful testament to PNU’s deep appreciation for its people—honoring not only years of service but also the passion, excellence, and commitment that continue to shape the institution and inspire future educators.
