Dr. Leah Amor S. Cortez, Vice President for Student Success and Stakeholder Success, and Prof. Bryan C. Dayuta, Director of the Linkages and International Office, represented Philippine Normal University (PNU) at the Consortium of Asia-Pacific Education Universities (CAPEU) Board of Directors Meeting No. 1/2026 and 8th Annual General Meeting (AGM). The events were held on May 23, 2026, at Mahasarakham University in Thailand.

Held alongside the 12th International Conference on Educational Reform (ICER 2026), the high-level meeting convened university presidents, senior academic leaders, and internationalization representatives from across the Asia-Pacific. Participants discussed strategic priorities, collaborative initiatives, and governance matters aimed at advancing higher education cooperation.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the deliberation on key agenda items intended to strengthen CAPEU’s collaborative ecosystem. Discussions centered on the admission of new institutional members, the expansion of the Global Transdisciplinary Education Research Grant (GlobalEDU), and the implementation of CAPEU ASPIRE mobility initiatives. Additionally, leaders outlined the rollout of professional membership programs, the recognition of honorary fellowships, the development of a CAPEU expert directory, and the selection of future hosts and leadership appointments.

The Board also reviewed CAPEU’s financial standing and recent accomplishments. Updates highlighted the consortium’s expanding portfolio of international conferences, executive talk series, regional competitions, research collaborations, and student engagement initiatives.

As one of CAPEU’s 25 active member institutions, PNU’s presence at this strategic gathering reflects its sustained commitment to fostering meaningful international partnerships. The attendance of Dr. Cortez and Prof. Dayuta provided an avenue to explore future collaborative opportunities and contribute to policy-level discussions shaping regional higher education.

As the National Center for Teacher Education, PNU continues to affirm its leadership by actively participating in global networks that support institutional excellence, academic mobility, and knowledge exchange. Through engagements like CAPEU, the University further strengthens its role as a forward-looking institution dedicated to preparing educators for an increasingly interconnected world.
