As part of the series of activities celebrating the 33rd Universityhood Anniversary of the Philippine Normal University (PNU), 36 faculty and administrative personnel took their oaths of office in their respective positions yesterday, January 20, 2024, at the Geronima T. Pecson Main Auditorium.
University President Dr. Bert J. Tuga addressed the attendees, particularly the newly hired and promoted faculty and staff, acknowledging their significant contributions to the realization of the institution’s lofty goals and ideals. Dr. Tuga reiterated his commitment to prioritizing the development of a sustainable and efficient human resource program that ensures a consistent hiring and promotion system. He emphasized that as government employees, particularly at the National Center for Teacher Education, individuals must be ready to go beyond expectations and courageously answer the call of duty in all capacities possible. He also highlighted the importance of cultivating loyalty to the university, which gives a deeper sense of meaning even to the most routine tasks.
Following his message, Dr. Tuga led the oath-taking ceremony, which was witnessed by Vice President for Academics Dr. Marilyn U. Balagtas, Vice President for Finance and Administration Dr. Lordinio A. Vergara, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Quality Assurance Dr. Teresita T. Rungduin, and Vice President for Student Success and Stakeholders Services Dr. Denmark L. Yonson, one of the promoted faculty members.
Since the start of Dr. Tuga’s presidency in 2019, his administration has actively implemented initiatives for hiring and promoting PNU employees. Some of the most recent efforts were aligned with the PNU Merit System, CHED-DBM Joint Circular No. 3, s. 2022, and the Revised Organizational Structure and Staffing Standards for SUCs.
