In a powerful display of enduring loyalty to Inang Pamantasan and global solidarity with their fellow PNUans, the Philippine Normal University Global Alumni Association (PNUGAA), Inc. successfully hosted its 5th Grand International Reunion on July 25-26, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Anchored on the theme “Legacy in Action: Reuniting PNUans, Renewing our Mission,” the two-day milestone event gathered more than 100 proud alumni flying in from the United States, Canada, Africa, and the Philippines, bridging borders to celebrate their shared roots at the National Center for Teacher Education.
Adding profound significance to the event was the presence of PNU President, Dr. Bert J. Tuga, who served as the Guest of Honor and Keynote Speaker. In his address, Dr. Tuga expressed his deepest gratitude to the global alumni community for their unwavering dedication to their Alma Mater, highlighting how fitting and special it was that the global reunion coincided with a historic milestone for the university—the 125th Anniversary of the Opening of Philippine Normal School. President Tuga was joined by other esteemed university officials, including Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA) Dr. Lordinio A. Vergara and Alumni Relations Office (ARO) Director Dr. Glenda O. De Lara, further strengthening the bond between the university administration and the international alumni base.
The highlight of the gala was the official turnover of significant financial contributions spearheaded by the alumni to support PNU’s continuing development. Demonstrating their commitment to preserving the university’s rich history, the PNUGAA and PNC Batch 1966 International presented an initial fund of PHP 2,000,000 dedicated to the establishment of the TEACHER Museum and Alumni Hall. This collaborative initiative aims to immortalize the legacy of PNU as a teacher training institution and provide a dedicated space for alumni returning to the campus. Furthermore, the association reinforced its commitment to academic excellence by raising over USD 10,000 in additional funding for the PNUGAA Math and Science Scholarship Program, ensuring that deserving and extraordinarily skilled PNU students receive the financial support they need to become the nation’s next top educators.
The gathering concluded not just with rekindled friendships and nostalgic memories, but with concrete actions that will shape the future of the Philippine Normal University for generations to come—truly a testament to PNUans putting their legacy into action.
