The Philippine Normal University (PNU) welcomed Dr. Vincent Ribière, Managing Director of the Institute for Knowledge and Innovation Southeast Asia (IKI-SEA) of Bangkok University, for a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening international academic collaboration. Dr. Ribière’s official visit brought together University officials and faculty scholars to explore concrete pathways for partnership in knowledge management and education innovation.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Marilyn U. Balagtas, Vice President for Academics; Dr. Leah Amor S. Cortez, Vice President for Student Success and Stakeholders Services; Dr. Antriman V. Orleans, Dean of the College of Advanced Studies; and directors of various University offices. Discussions centered on identifying priority areas of cooperation aligned with both institutions’ shared commitment to knowledge creation, capacity development, and transformative education.

A key proposal that emerged from the meeting was the establishment of a Visiting Professorship Program. The initiative is envisioned to strengthen international academic exchange, enhance institutional visibility, and promote the sharing of ideas between PNU and Bangkok University.

The engagement also highlighted opportunities for joint academic offerings in Knowledge Management (KM) and Education Innovation. These proposed programs aim to combine strong theoretical foundations with practical applications to support institutional transformation and address emerging challenges in contemporary education systems. Complementing this initiative is the proposed development of a Certificate Program in Organizational Knowledge Sharing, designed to build applied KM competencies among educators, administrators, and professionals seeking practice-oriented expertise.

During the meeting, PNU faculty members who completed their graduate studies at Bangkok University received tokens of congratulations from BU in recognition of their academic achievements. The honorees included Dr. John P. Natividad, Director of the Facilities Management and Sustainability Office; Dr. Malvin R. Tabajen of the Faculty of Education and Information Sciences; and Dr. Marivilla Lydia B. Aggarao, Director of the Knowledge Management and Strategic Foresight Office.

Further reinforcing the collaborative agenda, both parties discussed the possibility of co-organizing an international conference on Knowledge Management. Such an initiative would position PNU and Bangkok University as thought leaders in KM and education innovation while providing a global platform for scholars and practitioners to exchange insights and advance the field.

Collectively, the outcomes of the meeting underscore a shared vision for sustained academic collaboration between the Philippine Normal University and Bangkok University—one anchored in global engagement, institutional strengthening, and leadership in knowledge management and education innovation.
