PNU remains ISO-certified for world-class quality.

The Philippine Normal University (PNU) has once again affirmed its commitment to quality and excellence after successfully maintaining its ISO 9001:2015 certification. This was the key finding from the surveillance visit conducted by W3 Solutionz PH on November 14, 2025, at the AV Theater.

Following a comprehensive review of the university’s ongoing adherence to global standards in its Quality Management System (QMS), the auditors confirmed that PNU remains compliant with ISO requirements, resulting in the recommendation for the continued validity of its certification.

During the closing program, Engr. Cristina M. Rioja, the sole auditor for this year’s surveillance visit, reported zero non-conformities for the university. She also highlighted several positive findings that reflect PNU’s strong and consistent pursuit of excellence. Among these were the university’s multiple institutional recognitions, the active leadership engagement demonstrated particularly by the President, and the effective implementation of programs that drive continuous system improvement.

Engr. Rioja also identified opportunities for further enhancement, including strengthening engagement with interested parties, improving the monitoring of training activities, and accelerating the transition toward paperless document control. Her recommendations centered on aligning procedures more explicitly with the existing Quality Manual, integrating climate change considerations into the university’s SWOT analysis, and preparing for the updated ISO 9001 standard expected to be released next year.

In his statement of commitment, University President Dr. Bert J. Tuga acknowledged all who contributed to this year’s audit success. He credited the community’s collective maturity for bringing PNU to its current position. He then pledged that the community will consider the observations and recommendations from the external auditor and will continue reflecting on these areas, guided by the principles of sustainability.

This marks the 8th consecutive year that the Philippine Normal University has sustained its status as an ISO-certified institution—an enduring testimony to its unwavering pursuit of world-class quality and service.
