On January 21, 2025, the Philippine Normal University (PNU), through the Student Affairs and Services Office and the University Student Council-Central Student Council, conducted the annual PNU Student Summit. As one of the highlights of the 33rd Universityhood Anniversary Celebration of PNU, the Student Summit 2025 brought together students, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders for a day filled with learning, camaraderie, and celebration centered on the theme: “ALAB: Mula sa Masa, Tungo sa Matatag na Pamumuno, Dekalidad na Edukasyon, at Pagsulong ng mga Adbokasiyang Mula sa Pusong Nag-aalab.”
The day kicked off with the opening program, setting the tone for the festivities. Warm words of support were imparted by university officials. Vice President for Student Success and Stakeholders Services, Dr. Denmark L. Yonson, delivered the opening remarks to formally begin the celebration, while Vice President for Research, Extension, and Quality Assurance, Dr. Teresita T. Rungduin, delivered a message on behalf of PNU President Dr. Bert J. Tuga, highlighting the value of community and advocacy.
The event continued with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of various booths, marking the start of the Booth Fair. From interactive displays showcasing the advocacies of student organizations to booth activities and food stalls that added flavor to the celebration, the Booth Fair offered something memorable for everyone. Ultimately, the booths of the PNU USC Freshmen Assembly, PNU DOST Scholars’ Association, and Gabriela Youth PNU earned the Best Booth honors.
The Palarong Pinoy segment, facilitated by the Physical Education Majors Society, promoted the culture of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the members and representatives of the faculties and institute through traditional and team-building games.
A Mental Health Seminar was also held, offering insights on utilizing strengths to maximize coping mechanisms and achieve personal success. With Ms. Gabby Llamzon of Positive Workplaces as the resource speaker, engaging discussions and activities provided a space that encouraged students to prioritize their well-being and foster a supportive community.
The summit culminated in the much-anticipated Student’s Night, where more than 30 performers showcased their talents through performances that had the audience on their feet. This portion of the summit became a testament to the diversity of talents possessed by PNUans.
The PNU Student Summit 2025 served as an avenue for students to reflect on PNU’s rich heritage while celebrating student engagement, mental health advocacy, and school pride. It truly embodied the university’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel academically, socially, and emotionally.
