The Student Affairs and Services Office (SASO) is primarily responsible for providing assistance to student development and implementing support services supplementing and complementing the curricular programs. It also functions as focal points for both student discipline and promotion of student wellbeing and success. It caters to the mental health needs and flourishing of students.

SASO has the following functions:

  1. Implements an inclusive, gender-fair, equitable, and comprehensive student programs and services to ensure academic success;
  2. Enhances and sustains students’ physical and mental health, safety, and wellness (e.g., psycho-social support, spirituality);
  3. Strengthens the academic mentoring and counseling program to improve student research outputs and publications;
  4. Implements a resource generation and mobilization program to support student scholarship programs and other services;
  5. Ensures the implementation of equal access to educational and leadership and leadership opportunities;
  6. Implements a comprehensive career guidance, pre-professional, on campus support, and international immersion program;
  7. Empowers undergraduate and graduate student’s leadership at national and international arena;
  8. Provides recognition and incentive to highly engaged students in research, extension and publication; and
  9. Ensures mental health wellness of students through counseling, testing and development programs

SASO is headed by a Director, who is designated by the PNU President.

SASO oversees the delivery of services of the following units:


The Student Welfare Services Unit (SWSU) designs support programs for students in relation to:

  1. Information and orientation;
  2. Guidance and counseling;
  3. Career;
  4. Job placement;
  5. Economic enterprise development; and
  6. Student handbook development.

SWSU is supervised by a Registered Guidance Counselor as Head, who is designated by the PNU President.


The Student Development Services Unit (SDSU) provides support to students in organizations and assists in the pursuit of their leadership endeavors. It also serves as implementers of formation and discipline. Specifically, it aims to form and develop PNU students who are future-ready, socially-engaged, service-oriented leaders, and innovative teachers.

SDSU has the following functions:

  1. Fully integrates the learner-centered approach and the PNU Wellbeing Framework anchored on the SDP in all student formation and development programs;
  2. Ensures relevance and responsiveness of our student development programs to the needs of our students in a DVUCAD (Diverse, Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous, and Disruptive) society;
  3. Develops and implements a standard assessment tool that measures the effectiveness of all student formation and development programs, and the integration of the PNU Wellbeing Framework;
  4. Ensures active engagement of students in transdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, professional, and scientific communities in responding to the needs of the community partners and other stakeholders;
  5. Ensures that the gender track record of students is taken into consideration in granting of awards;
  6. Upskills and retools students on advanced skills needed in a future ready university and society that are beyond the implemented curriculum; and
  7. Ensures that the students’ development is aligned with university thrusts as a platform for student continuous development as part of their pre-service teacher experience.

SDSU is supervised by a Head, who is designated by the PNU President.


The Institutional Student Programs and Services Unit (ISPSU) promotes services and programs designed to address students’ basic health, food, shelter, and safety concerns. It is in charge of the following services: (1) scholarship and financial assistance; (2) health and wellness; (3) safety and security; (4) student housing and residential concerns; (5) multi-faith; (6) foreign/international students services; (7) special population; (8) cultural and arts programs; (9) sports development programs; and (10) social and community involvement programs.

ISPSU has the following functions:

  1. Fosters a nurturing environment in the delivery of student support services.
  2. Strengthens collaboration with our internal and external partners in continuously improving our student support services.
  3. Standardizes and implements a feedback mechanism that measures satisfaction of our stakeholders.

ISPSU is supervised by a Head, who is designated by the PNU President.
