The PNU academic officials and select faculty members convened for the Academic Summit 2022 to finalize the new academic plans of the University towards the new normal on 24-31 August 2022 at The Monarch Hotel, Calasiao, Pangasinan.
In his message, President Bert J. Tuga emphasized the demands for PNU as the National Center for Teacher Education to innovate, highlighting its new role as advisor to the Teacher Education Council under Republic Act No. 11713, the Commission on Higher Education’s guidelines on graduate programs, the PNU Strategic Development Plan (SDP) 2023-2032 and its new vision and mission.
With all these demands affecting the academic, President Tuga emphasized the need “to come up with a blueprint of a future-proof PNU” that is anchored on the University’s five strategic commitments–quality, inclusivity, innovation, impact, and sustainability.
Months prior to the summit, the document PNU Academic Plans in the New Normal that contains a culmination of the lessons from the two-year shift to Kaway-Aralan sa Bagong Kadawyan (flexible learning in the new normal) was released for consultation and progressive unit planning. The data from the limited face-to-face implementation in 2021-2022 provided additional inputs to the academic plans.
PNU Vice President for Academics Dr. Jennie V. Jocson spearheaded the summit.
