As part of the 2025 National Women’s Month celebration, the Philippine Normal University (PNU), in partnership with the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines (UNACOM), co-hosted the Geronima T. Pecson Forum on March 25, 2025. Centered on the theme of women’s leadership in education, the forum featured insights from three accomplished women leaders in the education sector: Commission on Higher Education Commissioner Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela, Department of Education Assistant Secretary Jocelyn D.R. Andaya, and Centro Escolar University – Malolos Vice President and Dean of Studies Dr. Maria Flordeliza L. Anastacio. The event held special significance as it took place at PNU’s main auditorium, which is named after Senator Geronima T. Pecson, a distinguished PNU alumna and the first woman elected to the Philippine Senate.

The University College Leuven-Limburg (UCLL) in Belgium and Philippine Normal University Mindanao (PNU Mindanao) held a three-day exchange cultural discussion from March 14 to 16, 2025. The discussion focused on topics such as student mobility, faculty collaboration, global citizenship, and multicultural education.

The Ateneo-EDCOM 2 Research Fellowship conducted its second batch of research presentations on March 12, 2025, at Ateneo de Manila University. This event focused on the initial research findings of the engaged research fellows, marking another milestone in the continuous effort to address the different challenges in the Philippine education sector. This initiative, a collaboration between the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) and Ateneo de Manila University, brought together distinguished scholars nationwide to contribute insights aimed at shaping future education policies.

Nivera, Faculty of Science, Technology, and Mathematics (FSTeM) Associate Dean Dr. Alfons Jayson O. Pelgone, Faculty of Education and Information Sciences (FEIS) Associate Dean Dr. Niño Naldoza, and Research Institute for Teacher Quality (RITQ) Senior Program Manager Dr. Allan S. Reyes, attended a consultative meeting on the current Senior High School (SHS) program and the proposed House Bill 11213 on March 12, 2025, at the University of the Philippines Bonifacio Global City (UP BGC). The meeting was convened by the office of Senator Win Gatchalian, chair of the Senate Committee on Education.

The Philippine Normal University (PNU) has once again added another feather to its cap after being recognized by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) as one of the top performing institutions for securing the highest number of accredited programs in 2024.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, and the Centre for Higher Education (CHE) jointly organize the International Deans’ Course (IDC) in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. This intensive training program for middle managers in higher education is part of the DIES program (Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies), coordinated by DAAD and HRK.
