As part of its goal to transform teacher education programs nationwide and align them with the diverse educational needs of the 21st century, the Philippine Normal University (PNU) has formalized an agreement with the Teacher Education Council (TEC) to execute the Research Initiatives in Teacher Education (RITE).

Faculty members from the Philippine Normal University (PNU) Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences (FBeSS) and PNU North Luzon embarked on a series of academic activities in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 1 to 7, 2024. The trip featured academic visits, MATATAG Curriculum training for Filipino teachers, and cultural immersion.

Philippine Normal University (PNU), the country’s National Center for Teacher Education, has been recognized as a Center of Excellence (COE) for Teacher Education by the Teacher Education Council (TEC). Bearing the theme “Iskolar at Atletang NCR: Kaagapay Tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association – National Capital Region (SCUAA-NCR) formally kick-started the 34th installment of its annual games during the opening ceremony held on November 25, 2024, at the Kartilya ng Katipunan in the City of Manila. The Asia-Europe Foundation formally kickstarted its 17th Classroom Network Conference earlier today, November 12, 2024. The opening ceremony was held at the Geronima T. Pecson Main Auditorium of the Philippine Normal University, the proud co-host of this weeklong endeavor that banners the theme, “Learning about AI and Learning with AI.” One hundred twenty (120) participants from Asian and European countries have converged at PNU to explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education including its challenges and opportunities and to study innovative teaching practices from various countries.

In a bid to reinforce its brand of academic excellence and commitment to relevant social advocacies, the Philippine Normal University recently sent two of its officials to Thailand to participate in separate international training workshops. These events provided opportunities for the PNU representatives to engage with global leaders in various disciplines, share best practices, and foster partnerships that align with the university’s commitment to advancing gender equity, diversity, inclusivity, and global citizenship education.

The Philippine Normal University warmly welcomed the exchange students from Kasetsart University (KU) in Bangkok, Thailand, for the latest installment of the Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network – Student Teaching Exchange Programme (AsTEN-STEP) on November 2, 2024.

The Philippine Normal University (PNU) will be implementing two groundbreaking admissions initiatives that aim to create more diverse and inclusive pathways to teacher education. The Contextualized Admissions Policy and Program (CAPP) and the Student-Varsity and Performers Admissions System (SVPAS) are the two new admission schemes approved by the university’s Board of Regents during their recent regular meeting last October 28, 2024.
