In recognition of its commitment to quality, the Philippine Normal University-Manila has been accorded the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Recognition for Proficiency in Quality Management approved by the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines. This recognition came as a result of the 26th PQA Assessment Cycle, which concluded on June 13, 2024.
CAS holds seminar-workshop on effective research mentoring
The College of Advanced Studies (CAS) spearheaded a seminar-workshop on Effective Research Mentoring in Education Graduate Programs on June 5, 2024, at the PNU Learning Commons. The event featured Dr. Allan Benedict I. Bernardo of De La Salle University as the resource person. Dr. Bernardo is known as the only psychologist and social scientist in the Philippines to be included among the top 2% of scientists in the world in terms of scientific impact across all scientific disciplines, based on a study conducted by Stanford University and Elsevier Science. He has published nearly 300 journal articles, book chapters, and monographs.
PNU Officials attend SEA Teacher 9th Evaluation Meeting
To evaluate and plan for the future of the SEA Teacher project, partner institutions including the Philippine Normal University, converged for the 9th SEA Teacher Evaluation Meeting held on June 21 to 22, 2024 at the Wiang Inn Hotel, Thailand. The meeting brought together education leaders and participants from across Southeast Asia. PNU was represented by its Vice President for Academics, Dr. Marilyn U. Balagtas, and the Associate Dean of the Faculty of General Education and Experiential Learning (FGEEL), Dr. Darryl Roy Montebon.
PNU leads workshop on the harmonization of Early Childhood Education teacher training programs
The Philippine Normal University, led by Vice President for Academics, Dr. Marilyn U. Balagtas, organized a workshop titled “Consolidation, Evaluation, and Harmonization of Proposed Training Programs for Early Childhood Education Workers, Teachers, and Professionals.” This event, hosted by Advancing Basic Education Philippines (ABC+) and held in partnership with the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International, USAID, and the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM II), took place at the Linden Suites in Ortigas Center, Pasig City on June 13 to 15, 2024.
GCC Philippines participates in UNESCO Regional Policy Dialogue in Bangkok
Dr. Rowena R. Hibanada, Director of the Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Cooperation Centre-Philippines (GCC Philippines), represented the organization at the UNESCO Regional Policy Dialogue and the launch of the ‘Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights, and Sustainable Development’ for the Asia-Pacific Region. The event, held from June 5 to 7, 2024, was hosted by the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok and UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (UNESCO APCEIU).

PNUans attend annual summer camp in Central China
In an effort to celebrate diversity and foster unity, Sias University, a distinguished institution in the Province of Henan, Zhengzhou, Central China, hosted an enriching 7-day summer youth camp from May 27 to June 2, 2024. The camp, themed “Together in Diversity, United in Purpose,” welcomed delegates from various countries, including the Philippines, the United States of America, South Africa, Germany, and other countries from Asia and Europe.

The Philippine Normal University has once again entered the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings for 2024. This year, PNU has secured the 1001-1500 rank out of 2,152 participating institutions. The results have been announced today, June 12, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand during the THE SDG Congress.

AsTEN convenes for 17th Meeting of Presidents
The 17th Meeting of Presidents of the Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network (AsTEN) was held in Singapore on May 26-28, 2024. Hosted by Nanyang Technological University – National Institute of Education, the said meeting was attended by representatives of teacher education institutions from the ten ASEAN member countries. The Philippine Normal University (PNU), represented by Vice President for Student Success and Stakeholders Services Dr. Denmark L. Yonson and Linkages and International Office (LIO) Director Mr. Bryan C. Dayuta, attended as a regular member institution.
