PNU holds K to 12 Assessment Policy Research Forum at DepEd

k12In efforts to translate research into sound policies and legislations, the Philippine Normal University requested an audience from the Department of Education (DepEd) to present the results and share policy recommendations from a research project commissioned by the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) to the University led by the Project Leader, Dr. Marilyn U. Balagtas, Vice President for Academics.  The event, titled, “Research Forum: Policy Analysis of the K to 12 Assessment for Quality Reform Efforts,” was held at the DepEd Central Office, Pasig City on May 13, 2024.

PNU Buildings formally declared as National Cultural Treasures; marker unveiled

unveiling1In a program held on May 20, 2024 on the grounds of the Philippine Normal University, three of the university’s structures were formally pronounced as National Cultural Treasures by the National Museum. These buildings are the Main Building, now known as the Geronima T. Pecson Building, the Faculty Center previously called the Training Department Building, and the Normal Hall. Highlighting the program was the unveiling of the marker declaring PNU as the home to three of the country’s heritage structures.

AsTEN represented in the 8th ASEAN Entities Forum

asten1On May 14, 2024, PNU Faculty Member and Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network (AsTEN) Executive Director John Carlo M. Ramos, along with Prof. Dr. Ahmad Bukhori Muslim and Dr. Ari Arifin Danuwijaya from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), attended the 8th Forum of Entities at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia.

CHED and PNU co-organize Higher Education Day Summit

ched1As part of its 30th Anniversary and the 4th National Higher Education Day Celebration, the Commission on Higher Education, through UniFAST and in partnership with the Philippine Normal University, conducted the 1st National Higher Education Summit on May 15, 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City, with the theme “Access, Quality, and Competitiveness at the Core of Higher Education Reforms.”

PNU Students Engage in Dialogue with Thai Ambassador about ASEAN, Philippines-Thailand Relations

thaiWith the goal of fostering deeper understanding and collaboration within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) community, the Philippine Normal University (PNU), through the PNU Students and Educators for ASEAN (PNU-SEA) and the AsTEN Secretariat Office, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Tull Traisorat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Philippines. This interaction was held on May 8, 2024, at the Royal Thai Embassy, Makati City.
