In 1984, the long awaited dream of an exclusive library building that will house all the collections in the different library units finally materialized, and on May 3, 1985 the PNU Library building donated by the Japanese Government through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was inaugurated. In June 2003, a library technology center and library automation project funded by the DOST-SEI with PNU counterpart paved the way for the realization of a fully automated library system. The project involves the construction of an internet room, a multimedia center, an online public access catalog area and a book security detection system. Training for online cataloging, acquisition and circulation as well as barcoding of the library collection were conducted. The present University Library building is a four-storey building now known as Edilberto P. Dagot Hall. It has a floor area of 6,813.051 sq. m. and houses a conference room, audio-visual theater, archives, classrooms, librarians’ offices, viewing rooms and a spacious lobby aside from the library areas. It has sections for the three major library services: technical services, readers services and auxiliary services as shown in the PNU library organizational chart.
